Saturday Headliner:
XERO SUM
|
“XERO SUM is an American band with melodic vocals flowing over heavy rock sounds.”-EMBRACE YOU Formed in early 2004 by drummer Gabe Senour along with guitarist Trinity Martin and since departed member Joe VanMeter, Xero Sum was soon completed by bassist Brian Lewis and guitarist Dustin Green. Together the group quickly established themselves with a notably explosive live show that garnered a considerable hometown following. Over the last three years the quintet has not only welcomed vocalist Laura Sones into the fold but also set their sights on developing an arsenal of songs with a powerful-yet-far-reaching appeal. Highlighted by Sones’s compelling appeal, the bands single, “Excuse Me” sees her passionately weave a story ripped direct from personal journals. With hardly any sense of self-righteousness, she’s an open book of life’s ups and downs where even moments of tension, doubt and disillusionment always come with an underlying impression of hope. Adding to the feel of every song are Martin, Lewis, Senour and Green, who provide swirling and surging sonics to match the lyrical muse. Xero Sum has already produced a breakout single in “Excuse Me”, with its interplay between vigorously catchy riffage and enticing vocal hooks it’s easy to understand why local new rock alternative station WRZX(X103fm) put Xero Sum into regular rotation. 2011 has already seen Xero Sum play with the likes of Fefe Dobson, Deluca, AWOLNATION as well as being added to this year’s lineup for WRZX(X103fm) annual May Day concert held at Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, IN. Xero Sum will enter the studio beginning the first week of May to record two new songs for an as of yet untitled release. Xero Sum will cap off the spring by co-headlining the Hard Rock Café sponsored music stage with Kramus at the 2011 Slamology on Saturday, June 18 at the Marion County Fairground. |

The Post Script is a band that brings passion and energy into everything they do. Having won numerous prizes and contests for songwriting and performance in Indianapolis, The Post Script has had the privilege to open for The Plain White Tees at the Coke Zero Music Festival as well as independently tour the country. With an undeniable vitality that flows from the stage, a performance from The Post Script is memorable, enthralling, and gripping. <br><br>With a subtle humor, Matt Corken and Abe Jentry move through their music with a comfort and confidence not often seen in performers in their early 20's. Having played together for three years, The Post Script has defined and refined their sound to be infinitely unique and unclassifiable, yet at the same time principally alluring and enjoyable. According to Danielle Look, Nuvo’s own Indianapolis music enthusiast and critic, “With striking precision, [The Post Script] manage[s] to fuse pop, funk, and rock into something so universally appealing it could be dubbed ‘one sound fits all’.”<br><br>It is through the band’s undying devotion to the balance between inspiration and perfection that they have managed to accomplish what they have, and they plan to continue to do so into the future. The Suicidal Coconuts were formed on the Southside of Indianapolis. They have quickly gelled. This group of young men (ages 9-14) hit the stage with one goal… to rock your head off! Featuring a varied mix from Elvis Costello to Metallica these young men bring a youthful excitement to the stage. The band consists of Spencer Haggard, Jon Klaasen, Allan Fowler, Luis Hernandez, Galen Morris, and Coleman Blake; coached by John Gray. Their love for music varies and runs deep. Kicking off the 2011 concert season, The Suicidal Coconuts have performed in April and continue to add dates. The Last Millenium
| The Last Millenium started out in the basement in 2008 with some friends jamming. Then, just as they were ready to start taking the band to the streets, there was a personnel change on drums. After regrouping and bringing in a bass player and one of the guitar players moving to drums, they started to move forward playing parties and benefits. The band went into the studio to record an EP. Shortly after, another member dropped out of the band during a transition where a second guitar player was being added. Again, the band moved forward. They have established their sound in the hard rock arena and have been writing new material. T.L.M. are inspired by such acts as Godsmack, Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold, and many others. They have also been billed on some gigs at such places as the Emerson Theatre. Now moving forward, T.L.M. is ready for world domination. |

Chad Mills & Upright Willies
| Sure. A lot of guys in your college dorm picked up a guitar for the first time. They strummed Dylan covers and tried to woo the ladies. Chad Mills may have been one of those guys -- at first. The difference was that Mills unburied a gift during those college days. It turned out, this kid could write.... And sing... And play. Never claiming to be a guitar virtuoso, Mills just knew he loved music -- making it, sharing it -- and his music has grown exponentially each year thereafter. Listen to his albums and you'll find a pensive acoustic crooner on one track, a bluegrass tale-spinner on the next. Toss in a soulful sociopolitical commentary and you're starting to scratch the surface of Chad Mills. Like Indiana weather: not sure you dig this song? Wait five minutes. It'll change. But make sure to listen. This singer's gifts are his words. Undeniably. There will be a line -- a song -- an album -- that resonates with you. Chad Mills was down the hall in your dorm. Now he lives in your town and plays at your bar. Mills has been working hard to make a name for himself in the Indianapolis music scene for the last decade. Performing mostly as a solo artist, the singer/songwriter is often accompanied by good friend and percussionist Bob Stewart. The two recently teamed up on some performances with cello player Grover Parido and bassist William Rood. The quartet knew right away they found something special – a cohesive group of guys able to comfortably create a unique and rich style of music. It’s down-home…it’s rootsy…it’s infectious foot-stompin’ fun that’s easy on the ears. It’s The Upright Willies y’all! |
